Dickens Bill Sykes Bowl, Mini - Series: Charles Dickens
Height: 1.75''
Diameter: 3.5''

Charles Dickens (1812-1870) was the son of a government clerk who experienced poverty in his early childhood much like his famous character David Copperfield. His first novel, The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club, was released in 20 monthly installments before publication in book form. His novels are famous for their detail and accuracy with regard to everyday Victorian life. Royal Doultons original Art Director, Charles Noke, was a great admirer of Dickens work and featured many of his characters in his new Seriesware range. Although many of the Dickens Seriesware examples carry the Noke signature, the characters are in fact based on the illustrations created by Joseph Clayton Clark. The Royal Doulton Companys infatuation with Charles Dickens can be seen in almost every aspect of the range. The characters not only come to life in Seriesware, but can also be found on Kingsware and Queensware bottle, Loving Cups, Toby and Character Jugs and Figures.
