An integral part of Canadian history, the early trappers, or voyageurs, were largely responsible for the early expolration of the country. These rugged men spent the winter travelling by canoe, snowshoe and foot through the wild Canadian north in search of animal pelts for export to the European market. The miniature version of The Trapper character jug was put into production briefly in 1983; however, the decision was made to withdraw the character. Several dozen have appeared in the market. The trapper is one of three jugs that received a bckstamp in 1967. The other two, The Lumberjack and North American Indian, complete the three-jug Canadian Centennial Series.

Captain Hook is the nemesis of Peter Pan in J.M. Barrie's famous story. Peter Pan cut off Hook's hand and fed it to a crocodile, who liked it so much he followed the Captain around in hopes of eating the rest of him. Hook managed to keep eluding his predator because the crocodile had accidentally swallowed a clock that ticked inside him and ruined the element of surprise.

From about 246 B.C. gladiatorial games were a popular form of entertainment for Roman audiences. The gladiators were most often slaves or prisoners condemned to fight, which they did to the death using sword, spear or trident. The most famous gladiator of the period was Spartacus, a slave who led an unsuccessful rebellion against Rome. Emperor Honorius banned the brutal games in 404 A.D.

This jug features some of Dickens' most popular characters: Sam Weller cleaning boots; the Artful Dodger picking Barnaby Rudge's pocket, with Mr. Micawber in the background and Little Nell in front; Bill Sykes and his dog; Bumble and Tony Weller; Poor Jo, Fagin and Sairey Gamp with Dick Swiveller, Serjeant Buzfuz and Mrs. Bardell behind; Pecksniff; Sydney Carton; Pickwick; Mantalini and Fat Boy with Trotty Veck behind. These figures are very similar to those on the Series Ware which were beased on the designs of Joseph Clayton Clark or 'Kyd'. Below the rim is a continuous coaching scene, the lip is a mask of Dockens' head and the handle shows an open book inscribed 'DICKENS MASTOR of SMILES and TEARS'. In raised letters above the base is 'LORD KEEP MY MEMORY GREEN'.
