Dogs

Royal Doulton dogs are the most sought after animal group among collectors. Why shouldn't they be? Dogs are one of the most widely kept working and companion animals in history. They keep us company, protect us and make us smile.

Today there are an estimated 400 million dogs and over 800 different breeds being recognized by various kennel clubs around the world. The very first dog figure modeled from life was a blue roan cocker spaniel designed by Fredrick Daws in 1931. Lucky Star of Ware HN1000 was a Crufts Champion “Best in Show” in 1930 and 1931. Daws continued to design all the champion dogs for the next 20 years.

Since then, Royal Doulton, under the direction of Charles Noke, has created several pieces honoring some of the most popular dog breeds from Alsatians to Yorkshire Terriers.
